Holland Lincoln and Bart Phillips became friends in middle school and devised plans to get away from their mundane lives and explore construction sites and condemned buildings in their home town. When an old chemical plant they had explored thoroughly was cordoned off by the CDC, the boys didn't think much of it.
Years later, the two discovered that they could channel energy into objects they held. Holland's power created focused explosions around him, and Bart could charge an item and then release that charge in an explosive strike. Now in their early twenties, they looked for jobs as mercenaries, putting their unique abilities to work. The Duo caught the eye of Citizen Dawn, who recruited them to work for her as Citizens Assault and Battery.
