Environment: Insula Primalis

Set: Enhanced Edition

Warmed by a series of hydrothermal springs and an active volcano, Insula Primalis is the only permafrost-free land north of the Arctic circle, and is home to several genera of plants and animals extinct elsewhere on earth since the late Cretaceous.

First discovered by Canadian reconnaissance pilots flying covert missions to the Soviet Union, the island was initially surveyed as a possible forward operating base for NATO. Although some initial facilities were built, construction was slowed by the island’s remote location and hostile native species. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the partially constructed base was abandoned, only to be completed and re-inhabited years later as a refuge for the Citizens of the Sun.

Enraged T-Rex Errata

Meta: Insula Primalis

Edit this Reference

  • The Card art of Pterodactyl Thief shows it stealing Expatriettes RPG Launcher. On her card, RPG Launcher, she is seen riding the Pterodactyl to attack the T-Rex

  • The flavor text of "Enraged T-Rex" indicates that Insula Primalis has a citizenry - As this is the place where Citizen Dawn discovered in her bio, this makes sense.

To Other Works

  • The "clever girl" quote on the Velociraptor Pack's flavor text is a reference to the movie Jurassic Park (1993), where the character Muldoon gets attacked by Raptors (See this video clip)
  • Insula Primalis is a clear homage to the dinosaur filled Savage Land of Marvel lore. It may also be a reference to the numerous dinosaur isles that showed up in silver age DC comics.

Edit this Clarification

Fireside Chats

  • For River of Lava, Hostage Situation, and similar cards: all of the players must take the action (e.g. discard the top 3 cards of your deck), or none of them.
  • Suppose Pterodactyl Thief (2 HP) and Omnitron-U are in play. At the start of the environment turn, Pterodactyl Thief destroys Electro-Deployment Unit, which causes Omnitron-U to deal 2 damage to Pterodactyl Thief, destroying it. The damage happens before the card goes under Pterodactyl Thief, so Electro-Deployment Unit ends up in Omnitron-U’s trash.
